On Thursday , November 21, the Niskayuna Community Action Program will host a forum to discuss how we can reduce underage drinking through positive community engagement. The forum will take place at 6:30pm in the Niskayuna High School Media Center. Our focus will be on understanding the cause and effect of alcohol consumption by adolescents and developing fun, healthy, safe alternatives to drinking for our young people.
The keynote speaker will be Jenna Hoffman, a local mother who lost her son to alcohol poisoning ten years ago. A panel discussion will include a student, school counselor, and representatives from the school district, town, law enforcement, and medical community. There will be a demonstration of an app that helps facilitate drug and alcohol conversations with one's children. Information from community resources will also be available.
